Clark sparks Salem's 6-5 victory

SALEM -- Jessie Dillon tripled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning, then Mistee Shadle entered as a pinch runner and scored the winning run on a single by McKenzie Clark, giving Salem High a 6-5 win over Campbell Wednesday in a Metro Athletic Conference softball game.
Brittany Gregory pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for the Quakers (5-6).
Dillon also hit a home run and Bridget Savat hit a double and home run.
Jamie Dolan, Deanna Black, Kalli Zembillan and Tracey Apgar each hit two singles for Campbell.
Canfield 5, Niles 1
CANFIELD -- Laura McGivern's three hits led the Cardinals (7-1, 4-0 MAC).
Rachel Melewski, Tricia Bettura and Lauren Sulick each had two hits. Brittany Danilov (2-0) was the winning pitcher.
For Niles, Erin Armstrong had two hits.
Struthers 16, East Liverpool 1
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Struthers had 20 hits to win a MAC game in five innings.
Pam Sajnovsky went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Wildcats (7-3, 3-2 MAC). Brittany Bovo -- also the winning pitcher with six strikeouts -- had three hits, as did Halle Minchin-Skook, Sara Salinas and Sam Ditman. Annie Grischow added two hits. Minchin-Skook had a double and three RBIs, while Salinas (who had two RBIs) and Jeannette McLaughlin also had two-baggers. Elyse Kunzer and Ditman drove in two runs apiece.
Kayla Barborak had two singles for East Liverpool.
Huntingtown 2, Poland 0
HUNTINGTOWN, Md. -- The 2005 Division III Maryland state champions handed the Bulldogs (10-2) their second loss of the season.
Ashley Conger paced Poland with a pair of singles.
Mooney 9, Beaver Local 2
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Cardinals (11-3, 4-0 Steel Valley Conference) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings.
Colleen Courtney (6-3) pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and no walks.
Kelcie Herberger hit a home run, two singles, scored three times and drove in three runs.
DiAndra Dibacco hit a single, home run and drove in three runs and Gina Fabian hit a pair of singles and scored twice.
The Beavers are 10-9, 2-2.

VIENNA -- In the opener, Vannessa Dickson's two hits included a home run for the Irish (10-7).
Ashley Koval hit a bases-loaded triple while Natalie Palermo had a single and double in the Irish's seven-run sixth inning. Mary Hendricks had two singles.
Winning pitcher Heather Shadden (4-4) gave up a lead-off single to Brittany Ebe and no other hits.
In the second game, Kelli Podolsky had three singles while Jolanta Carkido and Jessica Yarab had two apiece.
For Cincinnati, Melissa Hausfield had three hits.
Western Reserve 10, United 3
BERLIN CENTER -- Freshman Elizabeth Srock (3-2) allowed only three hits with 11 strikeouts as she pitched a complete game to pick up the win.
Srock also hit a home run and three singles for the Blue Devils (10-3, 6-1). McKinzie Mowery hit a pair of home runs and a single, which included a grand slam in the second inning and she finished with 5 RBIs. Ellie Sanders had three singles and Macy Marra two.
Brooke McCartney hit a three run home run for the Golden Eagles (10-3), 6-2) in the sixth inning.
Crestview 9, Jackson-Milton 4
NORTH JACKSON -- The Rebels (7-6) scored three runs in the third inning and three more in the fifth.
Kelly Peppel hit a double and home run and drove in three runs to pace the Rebels. Winning pitcher Jessica Sferra (6-5) hit a single double and triple and scored three times.
Krista Kiraly hit a pair of doubles and Carrie Fiol hit two singles for Jackson-Milton.
Champion 3, Brookfield 1
BROOKFIELD -- Brittany Skeels struck out nine and scattered four hits for the Golden Flashes (10-3, 6-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Emily Hayes doubled for Champion.
For Brookfield (0-11, 0-7), Kara Egelsky had two hits and struck out five batters.
Mathews 2, Maplewood 1
CORTLAND -- Amber Jarvis scored both runs for the Mustangs (10-3-1, 4-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference).
In the sixth inning of a 1-1 game, Jarvis singled, then stole second base. Laura Wise's bunt single advanced Jarvis to third base and she scored on a groundout. Jarvis had three hits.
Winning pitcher Caitlyn Youngs (8-1) struck out seven and walked two.
Maplewood's Markie Pozzuto struck out 15 batters and walked one. She also had two of the Rockets' (5-1) four hits.
Kent Roosevelt 5, Southeast 2
RAVENNA -- Kya Robertson and Sandi Heasel each had two hits and Hannah Baughman scattered five hits to lead Kent Roosevelt (3-4).
Danielle Daley had a double and Jen Gahagan a two-run single for Southeast (3-7).
