Columbiana council approves request for Poppy Day sale

COLUMBIANA -- City council has approved a request from the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 290 to hold its annual Poppy Day sale in the city May 19-20.
Poppies will be on sale at both National City banks, Farmers Bank, Ace Hardware, Sparkle Market and the Oakmont Plaza on both days.
May 19-20 will also be the weekend for an annual street sale, hosted by residents on Stanton, Manor and North Middle streets. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Council also approved a request from 4 Wheel Drive Hardware, state Route 14, to hold its Jeep Jamboree weekend event July 14-16 at its facility. There will be a Jeep parade Friday beginning at 7 p.m., which will form in Firestone Park at 6. A fireworks display will be held Saturday at the store beginning at 9:30 p.m. More information on the event can be obtained by calling Brian Rupert at (330) 482-4924.
