Man beaten, robbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 24-year-old Austintown man told police he was robbed and beaten by three men after going to a house on North Evanston Avenue on the city's West Side to buy drugs Thursday. He reported the matter to police Monday.
The Austintown man said he was taken to the house by a man. While there, two other men joined the first man and beat up the 24-year-old in the front yard. They also stole his wallet that contained $135 and took his driver's license. The suspects left the man, who had severe cuts and bruises on his face, at the site.
Shots fired at house
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police were called to the 2000 block of South Heights Avenue at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, where residents reported two shots were fired at the house after a car pulled out of a driveway of a residence there.
Residents on the block described a white Lexus ES 300 at the scene. Police stopped the driver of the vehicle on Interstate 680 North near the Indianola exit a short time later and recovered a 9mm FC Luger spent shell from the driver's side rear seat. That matched a spent shell in the driveway at South Heights. No gun was found in the car.
Police released the driver after questioning.
The home's resident told police he knew the suspect only by a street name, and he had no idea who could have fired the shots at his house.
