Youths suspected in candy store robbery

YOUNGSTOWN -- A group of youths is thought to have ransacked a South Side candy store, throwing candy all over the store and knocking down or destroying the display cases, police said.
Police were called about 9:30 p.m. Saturday by someone who said about a dozen youths had broken into Candy World, 2615 Glenwood Ave., and were still near the building.
When police arrived, they found a door had been forced open but no one was around.
Police followed two trails of candy out of the store. One led to the 800 and 900 blocks of Parkview Avenue, and the other led to near Sherwood Avenue.
The store owner said the security camera wasn't working because it had only eight hours of videotape. He had locked the store about 6 p.m. Friday. Police asked him to provide an inventory of items that were stolen or damaged.
