Drag queen performance will benefit arts center

YOUNGSTOWN -- On April 29, The Oakland Center for the Arts will host a most unusual fundraiser, entitled "Fundraising...is a DRAG!"
It will feature performances by Royal Procession, a group of local drag queens and female impersonators, including Ahrin Starr, Starrlet O'Hara, Maxine Factor, Paradise Munroe, Princess Delicious of Whales and Veruka VonDoom.
Before the show, enjoy a wine and cheese reception and an outrageous auction. After the show, join the performers for photographs and autographs. All proceeds benefit the Oakland Center for the Arts.
The reception and auction begin at 7 p.m. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. For reservations, call the Oakland at (330) 746 0404.
The Royal Procession is a group of entertainers from the Youngstown area who specialize in the art of drag. Established in 1999 by Starrlet O'Hara and Ahrin Starr, their goal is to promote the appreciation of diversity and the awareness of female impersonation as an art form.
Its members have held fundraisers for lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender organizations at Youngstown State University, John Carrol University and Kent State University, as well as area night clubs, the Oakland Center for the Arts, and local charities such as The Mahoning Valley AIDS Task force, MDA, MS, Toys for Tots, Angels for Animals and Violet's Cupboard.
