RUNNERS-UP Two Canfield seniors place in Ohio Junior Miss competition



CANFIELD -- Two Canfield High School seniors who were among the 24 Ohio high school senior girls who competed in the Ohio Junior Miss Scholarship Program in Mount Vernon came home with runner-up awards and scholarships.
Elysia Shutrump was awarded $4,500 in scholarships for first runner-up and for being a finalist in the talent, interview and scholastics portions of the competition. She also won for self-expression and Miss Congeniality.
She has been accepted to the Boston Conservatory and Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y., and plans to study musical theater.
Shutrump is senior class president and participates in drama, speech and debate and National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Mark and Sue Shutrump.
Tracie Sinsheiner was awarded $1,700 in scholarships for second runner-up, an academic runner-up, and for being a finalist in self-expression. She plans to attend Ohio State University or Denison University and will study English.
Sinsheiner is the president of Interact, a volunteer organization affiliated with the Rotary Club, is editor in chief of the high school newspaper, and participates in drama. She is the daughter of Dr. Robert and Mariellen Sinsheiner.
Both girls also were cast in Canfield High School's performance of "Les Miserables."
