Public forum to discuss fallout from depictions of Muhammad
YOUNGSTOWN -- A public forum on "The Sacred and Secular: A Clash about Civilization" will be presented from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at McDonough Museum of Art. The forum will focus on "afterthoughts on the politics" of Danish and other newspapers' cartoon depictions of Muhammad and world events. On the panel from Youngstown State University will be Dr. Keith J. Lepak, political science, peace and conflict studies; Dr. Mustansir Mir, Center for Islamic Studies/religious studies; Dr. Helene Sinnreich, history department; and Daniel Sturm, instructor for journalism/English Department. The event is free and open to all.
Protestant Family Services
Protestant Family Services, 345 Oak Hill Ave., is participating in the Feinstein Foundation's $1 million Giveaway to Fight Hunger. The foundation gives money totaling $1 million to local agencies throughout the United States. Any money received by the agency through April 28 will qualify. The Feinstein Foundation also will make a donation to the local organization. The agency also is collecting donations of food items.
