PREP BASEBALL Hubbard's Palestro foils Ursuline, 6-2



Tom Jones, Marc Kanetsky and Frank Rosile led the Eagles' offensive attack.
STRUTHERS -- Hubbard High pitcher Frank Palestro scattered six hits with three strikeouts Saturday as the Eagles defeated Ursuline, 6-2, in a high school baseball game.
Palestro (1-0) pitched a complete game to pick up the win.
Six of the Eagles' 10 hits were doubles.
Tom Jones hit two doubles plus a single and scored twice and drove in a run for Hubbard (6-7).
Marc Kanetsky hit a double and single, and stole a base while Frank Rosile hit a double and single, scored once and drove in a run, to also pace the Eagles.
Mark Lapikas hit a RBI triple in the fourth inning for Ursuline (7-3). Ryan Satterlee hit a pair of singles and drove in a run, while Ross Revella singled, stole a base and scored to also lead the Irish.
Youngstown Christian 16,Woodrow Wilson 5
YOUNGSTOWN -- Winning pitcher Aaron Agresta (3-2) struck out nine of the 25 batters he faced.
Aaron Tate's three hits included two doubles and drove in two runs for the Eagles (3-4). Eddie Gonda's two hits included a double and drove in two runs.
For Wilson, Kevin Newberry doubled.
Columbiana 5-7, Salem 4-20
COLUMBIANA -- Chris Stewart's fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth inning scored the Clippers' Billy Couchenour with the winning run.
Mike Welce and Jarret Welton doubled for the Clippers (6-8). Kyle Wolfe scored two runs and picked up the pitching win in relief.
For the Quakers (5-6), Zach O'Brien's two hits included a double. Bryan Wright also had two hits.
In the second game, Wright and Ben Miller homered for the Quakers. Wright scored three runs and drove in four.
Miller scored four times and drove in two. Jarin Heath had three hits.
For Columbiana, Wolfe and Welce doubled.
East Palestine 17-18, South Range 7-8
NORTH LIMA -- Eleven runs in the first inning propelled the Bulldogs (10-2) to the victory.
Zac Dunn led the Bulldogs attack with two doubles, two singles and 2 RBIs.
Brad Bable hit a grand slam and double while Pat Figley hit a home run and double and drove in three runs.
In the second game, Dunn had two doubles and five RBIs while Nick Baiamonte scored six runs, had two hits including a double and drove in two runners.
J. Melnick had three hits for the Raiders and Tom DeChellis drove in two runs.
