Mineral Ridge, South Range claim crowns



COLUMBIANA -- The Mineral Ridge High girls and the South Range boys capture team titles Saturday at the fourth "Boots Hawkins" Invitational track and field meet at Columbiana High School.
Nicole Honsaker of Mineral Ridge was the high-point athlete with 32 1/2 points as she took first place in the 100 meters (13.2 seconds), the 200 in a record time (28.2), the long jump (15 feet, 4 inches) and was a member of the winning 4x200 relay (1:52.4).
Abbey Kiger of the Rams was first in the 100 hurdles (16.9) and 300 hurdles (50.4), while teammate Megan White won the shot put (38-8) and the discus (117-2).
Mineral Ridge took the crown with 182 points and a distant second was South Range 109.
Doug Miller of South Range was high point athlete in the boys division with 24 points.
He was first in the 1600 (4:58.4), 800 (2:04.2) and was a member of the winning 4x400 relay (3:38.2) and the third-place 4x800 relay (9:14.4).
The Raiders also won the 4x200 (1:36.1) and the 4x100 (45.8).
Cory Guy of Columbiana took the 100 meters as he tied the meet record (11.2). He was first in the 200 (23.2).
South Range was team champ with 158 points, while Crestview finished second with 124.
