LOWELLVILLE -- A "Next Generation Service" for high school and college-age people is planned at 9 and 11 a.m. Easter Sunday at The Riot, located next to Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road. The speaker will be the Rev. Chris Gilkey.
Spring break with Christ
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St., will have a Breaking with Christ program from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday. The vacation Bible school program includes breakfast and lunch.
For spiritual directors
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Madeleine Laine, a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a licensed marriage and family therapist, will present the program "How Do We Invite Our Family Stories into the Process of Spiritual Direction" during a program April 28 at Villa Maria Retreat Center. The session, set from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will be geared to spiritual directors. The cost is $50 and includes lunch. For registration, call (724) 964-8920, Ext. 3241.
Christian artists
Aspiring Christian music artists have until Friday to submit entries for The Inspiration Network's Christian Artists Talent Search series, which brings together 64 finalists from across the country to perform on national television. The winner will get a national recording contract from Point of Grace Entertainment record label. Submissions from all forms of Christian music are acceptable. Contestants must enter a CD or audiocassette with two Christian songs, two copies of a recent photo and two copies of their biography. All entrants must be 15 or older by the entry deadline. Flame fellowship
BOARDMAN -- Youngstown Flame Fellowship will meet April 24 at the Boardman Community Center in Boardman Township Park with fellowship at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7. Pastor Mike Guarnieri of The Fathers House in Norton will speak.
Drumming up support
HOWLAND -- Sheltered Reality, a group of drummers who seek to educate people about the homeless while they perform, will play April 23 at Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road. They will participate in the worship service at 10 a.m. and present a free concert at 7 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken.
Spring banquet
HUBBARD -- Crossing Paths, Don Reed Ministries, will have its spring banquet at 6:30 p.m. April 28 at the Brentford House. Guest speaker will be Jonathan White, a gospel singer. The event is free, but reservations are required by April 24 by calling (724) 981-7777 or (724) 981-7779. Donations will be accepted.
End Time Gathering
YOUNGSTOWN -- An End Time Gathering featuring prayer, praise and worship is planned April 23-29 at Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ, 939 Elm St. Speakers will be Elders Derrick Hutchins and George Hickey. Movies to be shown will be "The Burning Hell," "Left Behind," "The Rapture," "The Apocalypse," "The Omega Code" and "The End Time." Call the church for worship and movie times.
Spiritual society
CANFIELD -- Youngstown Spiritual Society will have an Easter meditation service from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Vince Lisi will present "Put your Spirit Where Your Mouth Is."
Old North expansion
CANFIELD -- Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road, will have a groundbreaking Monday for an addition on the southwest side of the building. The church will add more than 10,500 square feet of classroom and storage space and 3,000 square feet of basement space. The addition will include classrooms for adults and youth, a library-cafe gathering area and storage space. Growing ministries of the church called for the expansion to the church that already has more than 80,000 square feet and was completed in April 1999. The addition is expected to be completed in November.
Starting campaign
AUSTINTOWN -- Minister cBernard Monroe of cBernard Ministries in Youngstown will have an ecumenical Easter worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the conference room at Fairfield Inn. The event will begin his campaign to "Put God Back into Government," which will encourage people of faith to make God an important part of the election year.
