Vukovic Ks 14 for McDonald



John Opincarne improved to 3-0 as Lowellville beat South Range, 6-4.
BERLIN CENTER -- Corey Vukovic scattered four hits and struck out 14 batters to pick up the win for the McDonald High baseball team, which defeated Western Reserve 10-0 in an Inter-County League game on Thursday.
Vukovic hit a double, single, scored three times and drove in two runs for the Blue Devils (6-5, 4-1). Tom John hit two singles and drove in four runs and Dave Evinsky hit two singles.
Western Reserve slipped to 7-5, 5-2.
Lowellville 6, South Range 4
NORTH LIMA -- John Opincarne (3-0) worked the first five innings.
Vince Travaline, Jared Donatelli and John Wilaj, who hit a double, each had two hits for the Rockets (7-3, 3-2 ICL).
Fitch 9, McKinley 7
AUSTINTOWN -- Senior Nick Ritchie went 3-for-4 and freshman Jason Bagoly had two hits including a home run for Fitch (7-2, 3-1 Federal League).
Seniors Mike Rose and Dave Diyorio both had two hits for Fitch, which beat McKinley (4-5, 1-3) earlier this week, 8-5.
Jason Lutz (2-0) got the win.
Hubbard 12, Newton Falls 1
NEWTON FALLS -- Mike Carnahan's two homers included a sixth-inning grand slam to produce five RBIs.
Frank Rosile's two hits included a double and drive in two runs for the Eagles (5-7, 2-2 Trumbull Athletic Conference). Also with two hits were Tom Jones and Joe Marando.
Winning pitcher Andy Wess scattered three hits to improve to 2-2.
Lakeview 3, Brookfield 2
BROOKFIELD -- Lakeview scored two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to attain its margin of victory.
Dave DeJacimo (1-1) pitched a four-hitter and had a double at the plate. DeJacimo's six-inning effort included eight strikeouts. Jeff Musick relieved DeJacimo and recorded the save as he registered a strikeout and induced a popup in the seventh inning with two Brookfield runners in scoring position.
Eric Pirtz had three hits and Mark Novotny a pair for the winners (5-6, 3-1 TAC).
