Carnation City Playersplan 'Enchanted April'
ALLIANCE -- Carnation City Players will present "Enchanted April," adapted by Matthew Barber from the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim, weekends from April 21-30. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p.m. April 30. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. Carnation City Players perform at the Firehouse Theater, 450 E. Market St.
"April" won the 2003 John Gassner Award for Outstanding New American Play and received the 2003 Tony Award Nominee for Best Play. The comedy opens in post World War I England with downhearted Lotty Wilton. An advertisement in the paper promising wisteria and sunshine at an Italian castle catches her eye, and she seeks out another forlorn soul from church, Rose Arnott, and convinces her to share the villa for the month of April. They are forced to include two female strangers to share the load. It takes a peaceful Italian setting for new friendships and love to bloom.
