D'Ambrosio serving as interim school chief
MECCA -- The Maplewood school board will be getting help from the Educational Service Center to find an interim superintendent to replace Beverly Hoagland.
A letter announcing her retirement, effective Aug. 1, was received by the school board Tuesday.
Anthony D'Ambrosio, superintendent of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, said he hopes to have someone in place by next week and has a couple of people in mind to recommend.
Until someone is put in place, D'Ambrosio said he will serve as superintendent.
Lori Simione, treasurer for the Educational Service Center, has been serving as interim Maplewood treasurer since Janet Ward resigned last month to become Columbiana County Career and Technical Center treasurer.
The Maplewood board has hired Merri Smith, interim treasurer for Warren City Schools, to serve as Maplewood treasurer starting April 25. Smith is a graduate of the Maplewood school district.
Smith, who attended Tuesday's Maplewood board meeting, said the school board voted to accept Hoagland's retirement.
