Construction scheduled for new diagnostic center
The center will have an area dedicated to female diagnostic services.
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- A new state-of-the-art facility for diagnostic services will be built here as part of a $9 million expansion by Sharon Regional Health System.
Construction of the 30,000-square-foot diagnostic and imaging center at North Kerrwood Drive and Garden Way is expected to start this summer and take about nine to 12 months to build.
"Sharon Regional's new diagnostic and imaging center was designed with one goal -- to provide the community with convenient access to the newest and most technologically advanced diagnostic and imaging services available," said Wayne Johnston, president and chief executive of Sharon Regional.
He noted there will be a special emphasis on women's services.
What's included
The center will include a women's pavilion, a dedicated area that focus on women's diagnostic and imaging procedures with separate waiting and changing areas. Sharon Regional's breast care center, now in the main hospital, will move to the new facility.
The center will replace the Hermitage HealthPLACE on Highland Road.
The full-service imaging center will be anchored by an open MRI machine that will be useful to those with claustrophobia.
Other equipment includes mammography equipment, bone-density scans, ultrasound and general diagnostic X-ray. A radiologist will be based at the center to provide a prompt turnaround time.
The new center is part of the growing Sharon Regional Medical Park in Hermitage that includes the Advanced Wound Recovery Center, Behavioral Health Services Outpatient Center; Cancer Care Center; Corporate Health Services; Diabetes Center; Ear, Nose Throat and Hearing Center; Highland Hand and Joint Center; Hospice/Palliative Care Program; Lung Center, Rehab Center and Sleep Disorders Lab.
