Reinhart's single lifts Mineral Ridge to win
Allie Patton helped Poland blank Champion, 5-0.
MINERAL RIDGE -- Heather Reinhart had two hits, including the game-winning single in the bottom of the 11th inning, to lead Mineral Ridge to a 6-5 victory over South Range Tuesday in an Inter-County League softball game.
With runners on first and third with two outs, South Range tried to walk Reinhart, but Alexis Binder's pitch got too close to the plate, allowing Reinhart to get the hit, scoring January Golden.
Melanie Sparks had Katrina Tasker each had three hits for Ridge (3-5, 3-1).
Megan Beachley had four hits, including a triple, and scored three times for South Range (0-5-1, 0-3). Lynn O'Connell added two hits.
Poland 5, Champion 0
POLAND -- Allie Patton collected a triple and a single and she scored twice as the Bulldogs stretched their undefeated streak to six games.
Kari Thompson homered and Ashley Conger and Jenna Susany doubled for Poland.
Susany (3-0) allowed six hits including three doubles and struck out seven. She walked none.
Jaclyn Carpenter, Kasey Karr and Hillary Beachy each had a two-base hit for the Flashes (7-2).
Howland 3, Struthers 0
STRUTHERS -- Abby Nicholas (3-1) pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking one for Howland in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Desiree Sabat had two hits, including her second home run of the season, and Carly Sabat had two hits for the Tigers (8-1, 2-1). Third baseman Courtney McElhaney made a nice defensive play in the fifth, diving to catch a bunt attempt and then doubling the runner up at first.
Ellen Becker (1-1) struck out two and walked one for Struthers (4-1, 2-1).
Salem 9, Niles 4
NILES -- Junior Brittany Gregory (4-2) struck out 10, walked two and gave up six hits over seven innings for Salem (4-3, 2-2 MAC).
Salem's Bridget Szabat, Katie Malloy and Jordyn Hissom all had two hits.
Tanghill had two hits for Niles.
Western Reserve 3, Jackson-Milton 1
BERLIN CENTER -- McKenzie Mowery's two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning produced the deciding margin for the Blue Devils (7-3, 4-1) in the Inter-County League game.
Elizabeth Srock (2-2) pitched a complete game as she scattered three hits to pick up the win.
Losing pitcher Krista Kiraly (6-6) hit a double and single for the Bluejays (7-6).
Jackson-Milton 5, McDonald 2
NORTH JACKSON -- Krista Kiraly (6-5) scattered three hits, while Kortney Gherardi, BillyJo Bryan and Laura Yash had two hits each.
