City man is arraigned on weapons charge
YOUNGSTOWN -- Richard E. White Jr., wanted on warrants by three different courts, was arraigned Tuesday in municipal court on a weapons charge after surrendering to police at his Detroit Avenue home.
White, 37, was charged with having weapons while under disability, which means a prior conviction prohibits him from possessing firearms. During his arrest, White admitted ownership of three rifles and a hunting knife found in the home.
Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. set bond at $50,000.
The judge also set a $5,000 bond for a 2004 case of failure to comply with a police order and driving under suspension. When White failed to appear on the charges in May 2005, a warrant was issued.
Members of the Street Crimes Unit and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force who went to White's residence Monday afternoon also arrested him on warrants issued by Mahoning County Common Pleas Court and Mahoning County Area Court in Austintown.
He faces charges in both courts of possession of cocaine, records show. Bench warrants were issued by both courts when White failed to appear in September 2005 on the charges.
