Chaney's Koontz tosses four-hitter
Uniontown Lake beat Boardman, 5-1, and Campbell was a 22-11 winner.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tara Koontz tossed a four-hitter and had two hits Tuesday as the Chaney High softball defeated Warren Harding.
Mary Wheiland's two hits included a double and drove in two runs for Chaney (2-6, 2-0 Steel Valley Conference).
Emily Wheiland also had two hits while Monica Miller drove in two runs with a single during the Cowgirls' five-run sixth inning.
Uniontown Lake 5, Boardman 1
BOARDMAN -- Kelsey Ford had two hits and Justine Cullen had an RBI for Boardman (2-6, 0-3) in a Federal League game.
Erin Nabors hit leadoff homers in the first and seventh innings and Brittany Stefano struck out nine to lead Lake (3-4, 1-2).
Mooney 1, Py Valley 0
YOUNGSTOWN -- Colleen Courtney (4-2) scattered five hits with six strikeouts to pick up the win.
The Cardinals (7-2) scored the only run in the second as Meghan Williams and Mimi Vitello each singled. With two away, Gina Fabian singled to load the bases. Freshman Kelcie Herberger then hit an infield single to score Williams.
Mara Palombaro hit a single and double and Fabian two singles to pace the Cardinals.
Campbell 22, Rayen 11
YOUNGSTOWN -- The slugfest produced 33 runs and 30 hits, which included everyone in the starting lineup for the Red Devils getting at least one hit in the game played at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Victoria Steiner of the Cowboys hit a triple, double, two singles, scored four times and drove in two runs. Delilah Benedis hit a double and two singles and scored twice. Marina McMasters hit a double, two singles, scored twice and stole two bases.
Mathews 2, Warren JFK 0
WARREN -- Caitlyn Youngs tossed a three-hitter as the Mustangs (6-3) defeated the Eagles (4-4).
For Mathews, Jessie Hall, Amber Jarvis and Alyssa DeJean each had two hits. Rachel Woolf doubled.
For JFK, J. Slusarcyj doubled.
