Big fifth inning guides Hubbard past Struthers



Brett Dutton had three hits to lead Girard past Badger.
HUBBARD -- An eight-run fifth inning propelled the Hubbard High baseball team to an 11-8 victory over Struthers on Tuesday.
Eddie Palestro, Joe Marando and Tom Jones paced the Eagles (4-7) with two hits each.
Mike Barone, Mike Galleta and Chris Kadvan, who hit a home run, led the Wildcats with two hits apiece.
Girard 14, Badger 3
GIRARD -- Brett Dutton had three hits and three RBIs for Girard (6-4), while Nick Devore and Eric Stevens each added two hits.
Larry Goist and Brett Cubellis each added three RBIs. Kevin Nastase (2-0) had four strikeouts.
The Indians sent 12 batters to the plate in an eight-run fourth inning.
For Badger, Justin Deraway had two hits and two RBIs.
Lisbon 16, Crestview 5
COLUMBIANA -- Lucas Rambo's three hits drove in four runs for the Blue Devils.
Eric Cosma homered and his two hits drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Corey Smith struck out four batters and walked three. He also doubled.
For Crestview (4-4, 2-4 Tri-County League), Greg Brown had a two-run single.
East Palestine 16, Wellsville 6
EAST PALESTINE -- Pat Figley and Zac Dunn each had two hits and three RBIs for East Palestine (8-2, 5-1 TCL).
Tommy Powers added three RBIs for the Bulldogs, who stole seven bases and took a 15-0 lead.
Leetonia 13, Southern 8
SALINEVILLE -- Leetonia's two pitchers were also the best at bat.
Senior Andy Kisner and junior Jon Williams both had four hits and Williams knocked in five runs.
Kisner pitched the first 31/3 innings before Williams struck out four and walked one and allowed one hit over the final 32/3.
Also for Leetonia (3-6, 2-4 TCL), sophomore Ryan Gruszecki had three hits and scored four runs.
For Southern (0-8), Aaron Boston went 4-for-4 and scored twice.
Louisville 10, West Branch 7
LOUISVILLE -- Shawn Linder had a two-run homer and Jarrod Harris scored three times for West Branch (6-4, 1-4 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Jordan Johnson had two hits and five RBIs for Louisville (6-5, 3-2).
Maplewood 12, Southington 2
CORTLAND -- Every player in the Rockets' starting lineup had a least one hit in the 15-hit attack and they scored all of their runs during the first four innings.
Marty Urchek hit three singles, drove in two runs, scored three times and stole a base for the Rockets (3-2, 2-1) in the Northeastern Athletic Conference game.
Jarrett Partridge hit a pair of doubles, a single, drove in three runs, scored three times and stole two bases. Wess Wiltrout hit three singles and drove in two runs.
Brandon Bianco hit two singles to pace the Wildcats.
Southeast 5, Ravenna 3
RAVENNA -- David Hay hit three singles and drove in two runs to pace the Pirates (3-6). Greg Lemley hit a double and single, while Marcus Watson hit a pair of singles.
