Poland's hitting, Liz Maher's pitching beat Quakers, 9-0



Ali Myers had an all-around game as Howland blanked Campbell, 7-0.
SALEM -- Jenna Susany hit a three-run triple to highlight a seven-run sixth inning as the Poland High softball team blanked Salem 9-0 Monday in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Susany's hit gave the Bulldogs (5-0, 2-0) an 8-0 lead.
Sophomore Liz Maher (2-0) threw a complete-game three-hitter with 14 strikeouts.
Allie Patton led a 14-hit attack with four singles and three runs while Maher tripled and Jenna Barnhart doubled.
Howland 7, Campbell 0
CAMPBELL -- Ali Myers (4-0) allowed only three hits and struck out six to pick up the win for the Tigers (7-1) in the MAC game.
She also hit a two-run single in the five-run fourth inning. Catcher Desiree Sibera hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning. Abby Nicholas hit a pair of singles.
Canfield 20, East Liverpool 0
CANFIELD -- Ahead 11-0, the Cardinals sent 13 batters to the plate to score nine runs in the fourth inning.
Everybody in the starting lineup had a least one hit as the Cardinals (4-0) pounded out 18 hits.
Brittany Danilov (1-0) scattered three hits, with 10 strikes to pick up the win.
Bryanne Halfhill hit a double, two singles, drove in three runs and scored once for the Cardinals. Megan Lileas hit a pair of singles.
Struthers 5, Niles 4
STRUTHERS -- The Wildcats (4-0, 2-0) scored their runs in the first two innings of the Metro Athletic Conference contest.
Pam Sajnovsky of the Wildcats hit a double and drove in two runs. Brittany Bovo scattered four hits, with eight strikeouts to pick up the win.
Mooney 13, Warren Harding 0
WARREN -- A five-run sixth inning ended the Steel Valley Conference game. Colleen Courtney (3-3) pitched a one-hitter to pick up the win.
Mara Palombaro hit a double and two singles to pace the Cardinals (6-2, 2-0). Meghan Williams hit a triple and single, while Veronica Skowron added two singles.
Sarah Miles of Warren Harding (0-4, 0-2) hit a sixth-inning two-out single to spoil Courtney's no-hit bid.
Lakeview 5, Girard 2
GIRARD -- Kailynn Cerny and fifth-inning reliever Chelsea Butler combined to pitch a five-hitter with seven strikeouts for Lakeview (6-1, 2-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference). Abbey Bensing had four strikeouts and Cerny had three. Cerny is now 6-0.
Amy Downs had two singles and two RBIs for Lakeview.
Sarah Britt had a double, single and one RBI for Girard (2-7, 1-2), while Hillary Patterson had two singles and two runs scored.
Hubbard 10, Brookfield 4
BROOKFIELD -- Corrie Gasser collected three singles and a double to highlight a 19-hit attack for the Eagles (6-2, 3-1 TAC).
Also for Hubbard, Stephanie Zubyk homered, Callie Olyer tripled and Kim Budd and Gabby Flynn doubled.
Brookfield (0-4, 0-2) collected six singles off Flynn (5-2).
Champion 13, Liberty 1
CHAMPION -- The Golden Flashes scored seven runs in the first two innings, then iced it with six more in the fourth.
Jaclyn Carpenter triggered the 15-hit Champion attack with a pair of home runs. Kasey Karr (2-1) scattered three hits to pick up the win.
Mathews 17, Lordstown 0
VIENNA -- Caitlyn Youngs threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks, and she also socked a two-run homer, double and single to lead Mathews (5-3, 2-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference).
Kelly Dickerson contributed a double, single and three RBIs while Amber Jarvis had a triple, two singles and two RBIs and Ally Stein two singles and two RBIs to bolster Mathews. Rachel Woolf added two singles.
