Cincinnati soldier killed by roadside bomb in Iraq
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- A decorated soldier with the 101st Airborne was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on Sunday, the Army said.
Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Rogers, 42, of Cincinnati, was killed in Ar Ramadi when an improvised explosive device detonated near the Humvee he was riding in during convoy operations. Rogers was an infantryman assigned to Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat team.
Rogers received dozens of service medals during his 22-year Army career, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.
Rogers is survived by his daughters Whitney of Coraopolis, Pa., and Chelsea of Ravenna, Ohio, and his parents Luther and Donna of West Chester, Ohio.
