YOUNGSTOWN Identities of victims of shooting at apartment remain unknown
Youngstown recorded its fourth killing of the year.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The identities of two men who were shot late Friday at an apartment at 840 Martin Luther King Blvd. remained unknown Saturday night.
One man was killed, and the other was seriously wounded.
Police said the victim who died suffered gunshot wounds to his left temple/eye area and his chest. He was found in Apartment 19, lying on a living room couch. He is described by police as a black male about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches in height and weighing about 160 pounds.
He is the fourth homicide victim in Youngstown this year, compared with nine at this time in 2005.
The injured victim, also a black male, is about 20 years of age, weighs 140 pounds and is 5 feet 8 inches tall, according to police. He was found lying on the porch in front of the door to Apartment 19. He also suffered a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment, where he underwent surgery and was reported in critical condition at press time. However, because his identity is uncertain, no further information on his condition was available Saturday night, a hospital official said.
According to police, the shooting in the apartment was reported at 11:50 p.m. Friday. Authorities do not know the type of firearm used in the shootings and had made no arrests. No further information was available Saturday night.
