Foundation takes grant applications
The International Institute Foundation is accepting grant applications for its 2006 grant cycle. Applicants must be an IRS & sect;501(c) (3) tax exempt, nonprofit organization in the Youngstown area whose mission parallels that of the International Institute Foundation.
Applicants must meet specific guidelines set forth on the application as well as provide a proposed budget.
The foundation was formed in 1985 after the reorganization of the International Institute of Youngstown, Ohio, Inc. Foundation guidelines state that grant applicants must submit a request for funding a project which promotes the needs of and interest in understanding of the foreign-born, preserving and encouraging the development of values and culture of the local ethnic communities through education, social service or arts programs; and/or promotion of English as a second language to the foreign-born. Most grants are for partial funding of a project.
Eligible applicants may call Kathleen Brown at Butler Wick Trust Co. at (330) 743-7000, Ext. 293, or e-mail brownk@butlerwick.com to request an application. Deadline for submission of applications is April 21.
Grant recipients will be notified at the end of April. Previous grant recipients will only be considered for funding in 2006 if the appropriate year-end materials have been submitted during 2005.
