Whatever floats your boat

Above, Faleasha Oliver, a first-grader at Alden Elementary School, Warren, uses good old-fashioned wind power to race her boat at the school's Rain Gutter Regatta. At right, Kyren Martin, left, 7, and Tre'Vion Jackson, 7, also first-graders, raced their boats along the gutter. About 40 pupils participated in the race Thursday, which was used as a lesson on energy, the ocean and pirates.
