PALM SUNDAY GATHERING
Palm Sunday gathering
YOUNGSTOWN -- An All-Church School program is planned at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at Helen Chapel of First Presbyterian Church on Wick and Wood. The program will be followed by the Wick Neighbor Churches' annual Palm Sunday gathering. From First Presbyterian, there will be a procession with palms at 10:20 a.m. to New Beginnings Church on Lincoln Avenue, where there will be a brief service. Also participating will be Butler Memorial Presbyterian Church on Rayen Avenue and St. John's Episcopal on Wick Avenue. After the service, each congregation will go its own church.
Mass for guild
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Diocesan Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will meet for its monthly Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell St., with the Rosary at 9:30. The guild's executive quarterly meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. April 20 at Holy Family Church rectory followed by the general meeting at 1 p.m. St. Dominic's Guild will host.
Good Friday event
YOUNGSTOWN -- "A Good Friday's Night to Remember" is the theme of a program planned at 7 p.m. Friday at Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Ave. The joint program with Spanish Evangelical Church will feature Monica Phillips and the Vishez of Worship, the Whitney Triplets, Complete and Holy Ruckus.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will present the "Seven Last Words of Christ" program at 7 p.m. Friday.
Presenting Bible study
BRISTOLVILLE -- United Methodist Men of Bristolville United Methodist Church, state Routes 45 and 88, will meet at 9 a.m. April 15 for a breakfast, program and Bible study presented by Roger Norton. The church is handicapped accessible.
Discussion series set
NEW WATERFORD -- Keith Wilhelm will lead a discussion series from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays, starting April 18, at East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 state Route 558, focusing on the relationships of men and women. The sessions will focus on the Christian-based book, "What Every Woman Wants in a Man/What Every Man Wants in a Woman" by John and Diana Hagee. The class is open to singles and couples. Art and spirituality
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Villa Maria Retreat Center will offer "Art and Spirituality Workshop: A Prayer Oasis" from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 3. Sister Margaret Marszal will lead the class in decorating a miniature lawn chair and adding items that offer a visual reminder of making a sacred and reflective space. No art experience is necessary. Anniversary breakfast
YOUNGSTOWN -- First Calvary Baptist Church, 126 E. Wood St., will hold a pastor's anniversary breakfast at 9:30 a.m. April 15. The Rev. C.W. Glenn is pastor. Tickets may be obtained from church members or by calling the church at (330) 747-5747. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.
Spiritual society to meet
CANFIELD -- Youngstown Spiritual Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Guest speaker will be Claudia Brown, a faculty member at Penn State University Shenango Campus in Sharon, Pa., who will speak on her experience of living in a state of "cosmic consciousness."
Production planned

Annual mission tea
YOUNGSTOWN -- The mission ministry at New Vision Baptist Church, 505 W. Boston Ave., will hold its annual mission tea at 4 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Catherine Rexford of Community Church of God, Campbell.
Movies to be shown
GIRARD -- Our Way Home Christian Fellowship, 429 Ohio Ave., will screen the movie, "The Ten Commandments Part 1" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, "The Passion of the Christ," at 6:30 p.m. Friday and "The Ten Commandments Part 2" at 1 p.m. April 15. For children, an animated version of the Passion story will be shown.
Bishop to visit
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Right Rev. Thaddeus Peplowski, Bishop of the Ordinary of the Buffalo-Pittsburgh Diocese of the Polish National Catholic Church, will make a visit Tuesday to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Polish National Catholic Church.
Bishop Peplowski and the clergy of the diocese will concelebrate the Mass of Chrism at 7 p.m. Anointing of the faithful with the newly blessed oil will be administered after the distribution of Holy Communion.
After the Mass, there will be a reception in the social hall.
