Warren City Schools: Registration for the 2006-07 school years will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 25 at Alden and McGuffey elementary schools, April 26 at Laird Avenue and Jefferson elementary schools, April 27 at Horace Mann and Emerson elementary schools, May 2 at Lincoln Elementary School, and May 4 at the Alliance Community Outreach Program, 2051 Niles Road, S.E. Children must turn 5 by Sept. 30, or pass an early admission test. Parents must bring their children on those dates for vision and hearing tests. Parents are also urged to register their children at these times for the free Jump Start kindergarten preparation program, which will be July 24 to Aug. 17.
New Castle Area Schools: Registration for full-time kindergarten will be held at the Harry E. Lockley Kindergarten Center, 900 E. Main St., New Castle. Parents whose last names begin with A through G are advised to bring their child to the center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 2. Those whose last names begin with H through P should report between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 3, while those whose last names begin with Q through Z should report between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 4.
New Castle will hold pre-kindergarten registration at the Croton Pre Kindergarten Center, 420 Fern St., on every school day in May, with the exception that no registrations will be accepted between noon and 1 p.m. on any day. Children need not accompany their parent. Children must be at least 4 years old on or before Sept. 5 to qualify.
Campbell City School District: Registration will be accepted at Campbell Elementary School, 2002 Community Circle, between 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 and 2:15 p.m. on April 24 and 25 for children whose last names begin with A through L and April 26 and 27 for those whose last names begin with M through Z. Children must be 5 years old before Aug. 1, and parent identification will be required. A screening program will be conducted at a future date. Anyone who feels their child may qualify for early entrance to kindergarten and the child is 5 years old before Dec. 31 should call (330) 799-5211 for a testing appointment.
