NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The children's classic "Wind in the Willows" will open April 21 at the New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave.. Kenneth Cole of Lawrence County will direct the musical. The play will run for six performances April 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30. Evening performances are at 7 p.m. and matinees are at 3 p.m. Special performances for school groups are also available by calling (724) 654-3437. Kenneth Graham's "The Wind in the Willows" tells the classic tale of Mole, Rat, Toad and Badger. One of the nation's longest running and most successful plays, "The Wind in the Willows" follows the story of a naive and bumbling Mole on his first encounters with the Riverbank and its many furry inhabitants. BOARDMAN -- The Ulster Project of Mahoning County is sponsoring its annual Rock On For Peace from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Church Hall, 5235 South Ave. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Tickets are $5. All ages are welcome. Featured bands are: Dubbed Voice, A Big Piece of Kake, 4 Letter Lie, 5 Second Flinch, Ten Count Fall, Let All Prevail, Tomorrow's Hero, Via Transit, The Rydells and Flatliners.

ALLIANCE -- The Alliance Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Elaine Anderson, associate professor of music at Mount Union College, will presents its Spring 2006 Classical Program at 7 p.m. Saturday at Alliance High School. The program includes: "Water Music Suite" by George Frideric Handel; "Finlandia" by Jean Sibelius; "Carmen Suite One" by George Bizet; "Summon the Heroes" by John Williams; "Somewhere in Time" by John Barry; Variations on a Shaker Melody by Aaron Copland and "Star Spangled Spectacular" by George M. Cohan.
Young historiansto learn about Civil War
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Historical Center will hold its April Children's History Club from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. at the Youngstown Museum of Industry, 151 W. Wood St. The program is titled "The Blue and The Gray." Young historians will meet a Union soldier, and they will learn how Ohio's economic might helped the Union win the Civil War. Participants will create their own secret codes with a cipher disk and make a checkerboard. History Club is for young historians between the ages of 8-12. A snack is provided.
