NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County Treasurer Gary Felasco is preparing to turn himself in to police to face additional criminal charges, his attorney said.
Felasco's attorney, Jim Ross of Beaver, Pa., said he was notified Wednesday by Pennsylvania State Police that his client faces additional charges, but Ross was not given the paperwork yet.
Ross said they are making arrangements for Felasco to surrender to police sometime in the next day. The attorney said he did not know the details of the new charges.
Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Joe Reed confirmed Wednesday evening that charges were filed at District Justice J.V. Lamb's office in Union Township. Reed could not provide details.
Lamb's office was closed when The Vindicator learned of the charges.
Charges
Felasco was charged Sept. 7 with theft, embezzlement and related charges and is accused of taking more than $40,000 from his office. He is expected to go to trial May 8 on those charges.
The new charges apparently relate to Felasco's tenure as treasurer of the National Association of the Wolves, a public service organization with local groups, called dens, in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
Tony J. Celli, president of the National Association of the Wolves, confirmed that state police have been probing into Felasco's involvement as the group's treasurer but said he was not aware of the criminal charges. He deferred comment until talking to state troopers.
