Joseph Smith, 36, a roller at the Wheeling Steel Co., is under heavy guard in the county jail in Steubenville, charged with the murder of one man and wounding of another in a crowded poolroom at Yorkville. An incensed crowd of men who witnessed the shooting threatened to lynch Smith.
