Once-beaten Niles has close call in 17-16 win



Campbell's Rich Tisone had three singles in a win over McDonald.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Joe Razzano had four hits, three runs and two RBIs to lead Niles, which took a 9-1 lead en route to a 17-16 win over Chaney in a baseball game Tuesday.
Brian Bianco, Mike Kelly, Pat DiCristofaro and Billy Eddy each added two hits for the Red Dragons (7-1), who had 15 hits.
Pat Allen had three hits, three runs and five RBIs for the Cowboys.
Campbell 12, McDonald 3
CAMPBELL -- Rich Tisone collected three singles and two RBIs for Campbell, which collected 12 hits. Jim Bigly doubled twice and Ryan Burton homered for the Red Devils (1-3).
Paul Logan doubled to lead the Blue Devils (3-3), who fell behind 8-1 after three innings.
Wilson 7, Youngstown Christian 2
YOUNGSTOWN -- Victor Cardarelli had two hits and two RBIs, while Andre Figueroa and Jarvis Tabb each added two hits for the Redmen (2-4).
Aaron Agresta had three hits and Nathaniel Setnick had two for the Eagles.
Girard 15, Warren JFK 5
GIRARD -- Eric Stevens drove in four runs to lead Girard (5-3, 1-1 MAC).
Kevin Nastase contributed a double, two singles and one RBI to aid the Indians, while Brett Cubellis added a double, single and one RBI and Mark Feist two singles and one RBI.
For Warren JFK, Scott Difford had two doubles and Stefan Aulizio two singles.
Howland 6, Liberty 0
LIBERTY -- Ben Leece had two hits, including a double, and an RBI and Howland took advantage of five Liberty errors. Manoli Pahoulis scored twice for the Tigers.
Springfield 17, Hubbard 5
HUBBARD -- Fourteen runs in the first three innings was more then enough for the Tigers (5-1).
Dane Dobson hit two double and a triple, scored four times and drove in three runs. John Howser hit a pair of singles, scored three times and drove in two runs. Michael Kempfer hit two singles, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Mike Carnahan hit a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Eagles.
Alliance 6, West Branch 4
BELOIT -- Willy Graham had a two-RBI triple, while Josh Winans, Jarrod Harris and Shawn Linder each had two hits for the Warriors (5-2, 1-2) in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
Mathews 12, Southington 7
VIENNA -- Luke Weymer, Cory Fiest and Kyle Davis each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Mathews (1-4, 1-0) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference game. Phil Ciprian added two doubles.
Trey Tietz had a double for Southington.
Southeast 4, Akron Springfield 1
AKRON -- Winning pitcher Joe Knopick (1-1) hit three singles and drove in four runs for the Pirates (4-1). He also struck out 14 Springfield (2-4) batters.
Richard Hedrick and Jon Braham of the Pirates each hit a home run and a single and David Hay hit a pair of singles.
East Palestine 6, Crestview 3
EAST PALESTINE -- The Bulldogs (6-0, 3-0), behind 3-0, scored five runs in the fourth inning in the Tri-County League game.
Travis Newman hit three singles and scored twice. Brad Bable hit a two-run single in the fourth inning.
Late Monday
COLUMBIANA -- Billy Couchenour went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs scored and three RBIs to lead Columbiana past Southern 14-0.
Couchenour (2-0) also had 10 strikeouts and did not walk a batter in five innings.
Mike Welce had three hits, scored two runs, stole three bases and drove in three, while Jeff Rupert had two hits, scored three times and drove in two for the Clippers (3-3, 3-0). Bill Sattler added a double and a triple.
Southern is 0-5.
Springfield 5, Western Reserve 1
BERLIN CENTER -- Jeremy Savaet (2-0) scattered six hits as he pitched a complete game to pick up the win.
Chris Martin, Rick Lude and Tom Burton each hit a double for the Tigers.
