Dispatchers union votes to accept contract
AUSTINTOWN -- The union for the township's dispatchers has voted unanimously to accept a contract, said union director Frank Yacucci.
Township administrator Michael Dockry said the trustees are expected to vote on the contract at their meeting Monday.
The pact is a one-year extension with no pay raise for the eight members of the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association. Each member will also receive a $500 signing bonus, Dockry said.
A full-time dispatcher makes $17.82 per hour. They pay $20 a month co-pay for single health-care coverage, and $30 a month for family coverage.
The township also approved contracts for its police and firefighter unions last month. Those contracts also were one-year extensions with $500 signing bonuses.
