INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State junior Tricia Hilbish was named Horizon League pitcher of the week.
Hilbish helped the Penguins to a 4-1 record last week by going 2-1 with a 0.14 earned-run average. She allowed three earned runs in 15 1/3 innings and fired seven scoreless innings while allowing four hits in a 5-4 win over Wright State.
Hilbish also picked up a victory against Toledo earlier in the week.

Penn-Ohio golf
SHARON, Pa. -- The Penn-Ohio Golf League opened its season Sunday with Warren Golf Headquarters/Candywood Golf Club, taking the first week honors at Sharon Country Club.
Warren totaled 18 points, while Youngstown Ohio Carpet was second with 16 1/2 and Sharon Hickory VFW third with 13 1/2.
Youngstown's Richard Marlowe and Sharon's Bob Blaze shared individual honors shooting two-over-par 72s, while Warren had three players, Jim Perry, Scott Porter and Mikie Porter, fire 3-over-par 73s. Youngstown's Zack Manski also had a 73.
The team of John Zebroski and Manski was the best-ball winners with a 3-under-par 67.
The league will return to action April 22 at Candywood Golf Club in Vienna at 8:36 a.m.
Slippery Rockhires assistant
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Rob Keys, a former assistant coach at Indiana State, has been hired as the secondary coach of the Slippery Rock football team.
Steelers to appearat Eastwood Mall
NILES -- Willie Parker and James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers will appear at the Eastwood Mall Saturday to meet fans and sign autographs.
The pair will be in the former Rave store where Parker will be available from noon until 2 p.m. and Harrison from 2-4 p.m.

MUC's Rush honored
ALLIANCE -- Mount Union College junior Justin Rush was named the Ohio Athletic Conference men's golfer of the week.
Rush led the Purple Raiders to a win at the John Carroll Spring Invitational. The medalist, he shot a 1 over par 108 on the 27-hole event.
Bowling
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Senior/Adult Doubles handicap tournament is Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Saturday's session is at Boardman Lanes and Sunday's at Bell-Wick Bowl. Three games will be bowled at each center.
The event is open to all Youngstown Bowling Association/USBC sanctioned bowlers age 50 and over and 49-under.
Entries close Friday at 9 p.m.

Akron coach resigns
AKRON -- Akron women's basketball coach Kelly Kennedy agreed to resign Monday after four losing seasons, the university said.
Athletic director Mack Rhoades asked for Kennedy's resignation. She went 17-95 with the Zips, who have not had a winning record since 1998-99.
Bengals sign Adams
CINCINNATI -- The Bengals signed defensive tackle Sam Adams, an unrestricted free agent, to a three-year contract Monday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Also Monday, the Bengals signed 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman Scott Kooistra, a restricted free agent, to a one-year contract. Kooistra is a three-year veteran who played 15 games last season for Cincinnati, starting one.
