PITTSBURGH --Grove City competed in the West Penn Championships and finished 14th in the 16-team field.
Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash.) broke her own College record in the 1500 with a sixth-place time of 4 minutes, 54.09 seconds. Julia Seward (Elizabethtown, Tenn.) took eighth in the 5000 with a time of 18:54.41 while Mary Majchrowicz (Sunnyvale, Calif.) finished ninth in the 400 (1:02.49).
Kate Bender (Lancaster, N.Y.) finished 11th in the 800 (2:28.86).
Megan Fellows (Erie, Pa.) took 11th in the discus (104-3) and Ashley Metcalfe (York Harbor, Maine) was 12th in the high jump (4-9).

Grove City was 15th in the 16-team field. Grove City's 400-meter relay team of Mark Murchie (Falls Church, Va.), Dave Majewski (Lockport, N.Y.), Yu Kuwabara (Owings Mills, Md.) and Seth Fox (Ford City, Pa.) placed fifth with a time of 44.47 seconds.
Dan Spaulding (Spencerport, N.Y.) led Grove City with a seventh in the 10,000 in 32:56.48. Junior hurdler Sam Dippold (North Hills HS) took ninth in the 400 hurdles (58.86) while Bob Rummel (Knoch HS) placed ninth in the 110 high hurdles (17.04).
Greg Kroleski (San Diego, Calif.) finished 10th in the 10,000 (35:39.45) while Murchie took 11th in the 400 (52.65). Kuwabara placed 12th in the 400 (53.19).
In the field events, sophomore Dave Hodge (Enon Valley, Pa./Mohawk) placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 43 feet, 2 1/4 inches. Freshman Chris Huber (Ontario, Ohio/Ontario) finished eighth in the discus (126-2) while junior Bob Perri (Washington, Pa./Trinity) finished 10th in the shot put (44-8 3/4).
