YOUNGSTOWN -- The Sankofa project will have a tribute to reflect on the life of the late Coretta Scott King.
The event, free and open to the public, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Buckeye Elks, 421 North Ave.
First known as the wife of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., then as his widow, Mrs. King has been one of the most influential women leaders in our lifetime, Sankofa officials said.
The Sankofa project is an international movement aimed at helping people to put the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa into practice every day, according to its Web site.
Sankofa is dedicated to the empowerment of the family, especially the black family.

League to sponsorVoices and Choices
YOUNGSTOWN -- The League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown is sponsoring a forum to challenge northeast Ohio citizens to think differently about the regional economy.
The Voices and Choices forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 17 at the Park Vista Center Community Room, 1216 Fifth Avenue.
Holly Burnett-Hanley, second vice president of the league, will serve as facilitator for the forum, and her goal is to show the public how they can become involved and have their voices heard by area decision-makers.
Burnett-Hanley wants to enable 20,000 people to have a conversation about economic development and get more cooperation from the government, according to a league press release.

Senior Services Councilschedules meeting
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Senior Services Advisory Council will have its first meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday in the county commissioners' meeting room on the fifth floor of the administration building on High Street downtown.
The commissioners appointed the 11-member board to oversee spending of the $2,595,725 that will be raised annually by a 0.75-mill, 5-year levy approved by county voters last November.
The money will be used by a variety of organizations such as SCOPE Inc., the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs, the District XI Area Agency On Aging, Mobile Meals and the Country Neighbor meals program to provide senior citizen services.
SWCD workshop setfor erosion control
CORTLAND -- Trumbull Soil & amp; Water Conservation District will host an erosion and sediment control breakfast workshop from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. April 20 at Baconsburg Restaurant on state Route 46.
The workshop is geared to residential builders, excavators and landscapers to teach them proper erosion and sediment control related to new Environmental Protection Agency rules that go into effect June 1.
Conducting the workshop will be Brian Prunty, the SWCD's urban specialist; and John Woolard, Trumbull County's storm water coordinator.

Easter egg hunt planned
SALEM -- First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth St., will have an Easter egg hunt and celebration for infants through children in sixth grade at 10 a.m. April 15.
