Man gets prison for sex assaults

CINCINNATI (AP) -- A judge sentenced a man accused in a string of sexual assaults to 24 years in prison for his attacks on two girls.
Dean Strunk, 48, will have to complete a 29-year prison term for attacking four girls and a woman in Warren County before he begins serving the most recent sentence.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Dennis Helmick called Strunk an animal Friday as he sentenced Strunk on charges of rape and gross sexual imposition.
Strunk was arrested last summer and linked to several sexual assaults in southwest Ohio since the early 1990s through DNA evidence. The assaults included attacks on a 6-year-old girl in Montgomery and a 10-year-old girl in Colerain Township in 1999.
The 10-year-old, now 17, appeared in court Friday, and assistant Hamilton County prosecutor Jim Butler read a letter she had written.
"You are finally faced with taking responsibility for your actions," she wrote. "I will never understand why men like you do things like that to innocent, powerless little girls, but I do know that after today there will be one less predator out on the streets."
