BASEBALL
Thiel College 2-5, Grove City 6-4 -- Jerry Ott's RBI single to centerfield gave the Wolverines (11-4, 4-2) at 1-0 lead after one inning of the opener. Junior shortstop Ben Cobler's two-run home run in the top of the second put the Tomcats (11-9, 2-4) on top 2-1.
Thiel 5-20, Case Western Reserve 9-12 -- Thiel (12-10) struck for six runs in the first inning of the second game. The Spartans (3-10) rolled out to an 8-2 lead after three innings in game one before freshman centerfielder Dan Morrison (Maplewood) drilled a two-run double to bring the Tomcats back to within four (8-4).
Walsh 15-1, Geneva 2-0 -- Geneva lost four games to Walsh over three innings and is 13-11, 3-9 in the AMC North.
Slippery Rock 4-7, Lock Haven 0-3
Mount Vernon Nazarene 7-9, Tiffin 6-4 -- MVNU is 9-9, 3-1 AMC South after the sweep. David Yost (Poland) got the win in the opener.
Washington & amp; Jefferson 19, Westminster 10 -- Westminster saw its record drop to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in Presidents' Athletic Conference as the Titans suffered a home loss to Washington & amp; Jefferson (10-4, 2-1 PAC). In addition to the 29 runs, the two teams combined for 34 hits and 12 errors in the wild affair. The Westminster offense managed 16 hits in defeat. Sophomore outfielder James Padula (New Castle) and freshman outfielder John Izzo (Union) managed two hits apiece.
SOFTBALL
Slippery Rock 2-6, Edinboro 3-5
Thiel 12-9, Franciscan University 7-1 -- Senior first baseman Jen Stiveson went 5-for-7 with four RBIs and three runs scored in the sweep. Thiel (3-17) freshman pitcher Samantha Speicher picked up a pair of complete-game victories.
Bethany 16-5, Wooster 6-3 -- Bethany pounded out 33 hits and snapped a five-game losing streak with the wins to improve to 9-11. The Scots fall to 7-12-1. Senior CF Emily Patton (Poland) doubled to lead off the first game for Bethany. Patton's bases-loaded single drove in a pair in the fourth. In the nightcap the Bison jumped ahead 2-0 again with a pair of runs in the second inning.
Case Western Reserve 5-5, Westminster 1-4 -- The Titans dip to 9-13 while Case is 9-13-1.

Men
Thiel College -- scored 55 points to take sixth place at the Western Pa. Championships. Robert Morris (165.5 points) won the meet, trailed by Duquesne (112), Pitt (120), Indiana, Pa. (78) and Allegheny (57.5). Steve Witherspoon (Harding) ran a leg on the 4x100 relay team that took second place (42.7 seconds) for Thiel.
Women
Thiel College -- took ninth place at the Western Pa. Championships. Pitt scored 203 points for first while Duquesne (136.5) was second and Robert Morris (112.5) third. Fontella Jones (Farrell) ran a leg on the 4x100 relay team that took third place (49.86, school record).
GOLF
Men
Westminster -- finish seventh in an eight-team field this weekend at the Peter Rossin Memorial, hosted by Washington & amp; Jefferson College at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Pa. The Titans fired a four-man, 36-hole total of 327-347-674. The host Presidents won the tournament with a 300-304-604, followed by Allegheny (309-306-615), Rochester (316-304-620), Saint Vincent (315-329-644), Nazareth (321-327-648), Seton Hill (319-330-649), Westminster and Thomas More (340-341-681).
