Ohioans to competein World Cyber Games
NEW YORK -- Dan and Tom Ryan, 19-year-old twins from Pickerington, Ohio, recently beat out more 40,000 others to qualify for Team USA and represent their country at the Grand Finals of the World Cyber Games in Singapore in November. About 800 of the world's best video gamers from 70 countries will compete for $430,000 in prizes, medals and national honor in eight game events.
Gamers attempted to qualify at 120 game centers and through online tournaments since May. After regional playoffs in July and August, 184 of the country's elite reached the U.S. Final and only 16 made the team.
"The spectator excitement combined with a high level of competition signals that the era of e-Sports is beginning to mature here in the U.S., as it already has elsewhere in the world," said Hank Jeong, chief of International Cyber Marketing, the global organizer of the World Cyber Games.
The Ryan twins, also known as the Ogre Twins, defeated two-time defending World Cyber Games Halo champion Matt Leto.
Nintendo Fusionshow is sold out
CLEVELAND -- Saturday's Nintendo Fusion Tour concert featuring Fall Out Boy at Tower City Amphitheater is sold out, Belkin Productions has announced.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and the promoter is encouraging fans to arrive early. The concert, which also features The Starting Line, Motion City Soundtrack, Boys Night Out and Panic at the Disco, starts at 6:30 p.m.
Paid parking is available at Tower City Center, the parking lot on West Third Street and the Riverview parking lot off Canal Road.
Parents dropping off concertgoers are encouraged to use the Riverview parking entrance off Canal Road.
