Red Bulls win title
CAMPBELL -- The Ohio Red Bulls minor league football team won the super bowl title in the New United States Football Alliance League last Saturday at Campbell High Stadium with a 14-0 victory over the Columbus Cowboys.
The Bulls finished the season with an 8-5 record and was the only team in the league to play all its games without a forfeit.
The owner, coaching staff and players thanks all the sponsors, Campbell City Schools for the use of their field, fans, family and friends who contributed in the success of the season.

Senior bowling
STRUTHERS -- The sixth annual Youngstown Senior Team Tournament continues Oct. 2 at Bowladrome. Squad times are noon and 2:30 p.m.
The tournament is open to sanctioned men of the Youngstown association 55 and older and women 50 years and up.

Penguins' Roysuspended
NEW YORK -- Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andre Roy has been suspended by the NHL for the first two games of the regular season for directing repeated inappropriate gestures toward Robin Gomez of the Washington Capitals in an exhibition game.
Roy was suspended for his actions in the Capitals' 3-2 win over Pittsburgh at Hershey, Pa., Sept. 25.
He will miss games against New Jersey Oct. 5 and Carolina Oct. 7. Based on the annual average value of his contract, Roy forfeits $10,204.08 in salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
West Branch football
BELOIT -- West Branch has changed the times of two freshman football games. The Oct. 6 game against Alliance and the Oct. 20 game against Canton South both will kick off at 6 p.m.
Thiel ranked No. 40
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel was ranked 40th in the Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette NCAA Division III football poll.
Senior defensive end Kevin Strouse was named one of the Football Gazette's players of the week. Strouse, named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for Week 4 and was also selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference defensive player of the week after recording a school-record four quarterback sacks in the Tomcats' 41-7 win over Bethany.

Penguins lose
OTTAWA -- Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza both had a goal and an assist, leading the Ottawa Senators over the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 in preseason play Thursday night.
Antoine Vermette and rookie Christoph Schubert also scored for Ottawa (6-0-0).
Ziggy Palffy scored the lone goal for Pittsburgh (1-4-2), and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, vying for the backup job behind Jocelyn Thibault, finished with 35 saves.
ESPN brings backMidnight Madness
BRISTOL, Conn. -- Midnight Madness, the hoopla surrounding the official start of college basketball practice, will return to ESPN next month after an eight-year absence.
The national cable network announced Thursday that ESPNU will televise five hours of Midnight Madness coverage Oct. 14.
Spurs sign five
SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs signed five free agents Thursday, including former North Carolina forward Jawad Williams.
The Spurs also signed guards Kyle Bailey and Stephen Graham and forwards Sharrod Ford and Melvin Sanders.

RENO, Nev. -- Dominick Guinn figures he has nothing to lose Saturday night against James Toney in a heavyweight fight that will likely determine his future in the division.
