Man robs BP, said he was carrying gun

The suspect may have been involved in two other area robberies.
AUSTINTOWN -- A man, saying he had a gun, robbed the BP gas station at 890 N. Niles-Canfield Road.
Police have reported two similar cases, one earlier this month and one in July.
In the latest case, the robber ordered the clerk to fill up a black bag he put on the counter, then told her to get on the floor while he fled, an Austintown police report says. The robbery happened at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday.
Description and car
The suspect is described as black, around 6 feet tall, between 200 and 250 pounds, and wearing a red ball cap, a gray jacket and blue jeans.
A witness who was on his way into the station said the suspect got into a tan Chrysler Concorde and sped from the parking lot, the report said.
An undetermined amount of money was taken.
Police reported that a BP station at 5502 Mahoning Ave. was robbed Sept. 17 by a man who said he had a gun.
The suspect in that robbery fits the description of the suspect in the Tuesday robbery. The clerk also was ordered to lie on the floor while the man fled.
Robbery in July
Police also reported that a BP station on Mahoning Avenue was robbed July 9 by a black man who said he had a gun and ordered the clerk to empty the cash register. He made the clerk lie down on the floor while he fled in what was described as a gold Chrysler Concorde.
Reports do not indicate whether the robber really did have a gun.
Austintown detective Lt. Robert Schaeffer said it's possible the robberies were all committed by the same person, but he declined to comment on an open investigation.
