Hospital lauds nurse for act of heroism

WARREN -- Suzanne Tvaroch, a Niles resident and a registered nurse at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, was acknowledged for heroism by the TMH Board of Trustees.
Without hesitation, she answered an urgent plea for help while shopping on an ordinary day at Eastwood Mall with her 2-year-old daughter Sophia and her mother.
Ran to help
While at Target on Sept. 7, Tvaroch overheard the store staff's call for assistance from anyone who knew CPR. As an experienced cardiac nurse, she instinctively responded and immediately ran to assist a woman who collapsed in the mall concourse.
Suzanne performed compressions while another bystander assisted with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until emergency medical services arrived. She continued to assist the EMS until backup arrived. The woman was transported to TMH's emergency room and admitted to the coronary care unit.
"It was a totally different experience than at the hospital, where the equipment you need is right there," said Tvaroch. "When someone needs help, you answer the call and do the best you can."
She also was commended by the hospital's emergency department staff, AFSCME/UNA 2026 president Thomas Connolly, RN; and 4 East nurse manager Toni Blank, RN; for her work, professionalism and caring attitude.
