Two vestiges of the early days of rock -- The Del-Vikings and Bill Haley's Comets -- will rock around the clock (or at least for a few hours) tonight at 7 at the Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St., Kent. The Del-Vikings had two hits in 1957, "Come Go With Me" and "Whispering Bells." Original lead singer Norman Wright is still in the band. jMarvin Hamlisch, the renowned composer and conductor, will share his life's story and music during a solo performance at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at Slippery Rock University's Miller Auditorium. Hamlisch, the principal Pops conductor for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, received a Pulitzer Prizse for "A Chorus Line," for which he wrote the music. He has also won three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, one Tony and three Golden Globe awards.
