South Side man in stable condition after being shot several times in legs

YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side man remained in stable condition Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot late Monday.
Curtis Hardaway, 37, of Glenwood Avenue, was shot several times in the legs and buttocks near Park & amp; Shop, 1900 Glenwood. Shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, police said, officers found the victim lying in the rear of the store in the drive-through lane.
A witness told police he and Hardaway were near a wooded area drinking beer when they heard movement in the woods and Hardaway called for the person to come out, according to police. The attacker emerged and opened fire with an undetermined firearm before running off.
The Boardman Police Department's K-9 unit assisted and tracked the perpetrator to the 700 block of Mineral Springs Avenue before the trail went cold.
Police said the witness escaped the gunman by fleeing through a hole in a nearby fence and was not injured. Several other people said they heard gunfire, but no one was able to provide a description of the attacker, police said.
