"Nick News Special Edition: Harvest of Hope"

"Nick News Special Edition: Harvest of Hope"(8:30 p.m., Nickelodeon): Millions have crossed the Mexico-U.S. border in search of a job. And of the migrant workers in the United States right now, an estimated hundreds of thousands are kids. In "Harvest of Hope," host Linda Ellerbee follows four of these youngsters as they migrate with their families across the U.S. for work. From Mission, Texas, 16-year-old Mary Elen, her 15-year-old brother Manuel and sister Claudia, 12, travel with their parents 2,000 miles to North Dakota to weed sugar beets all summer.
"The West Wing" (8 p.m., NBC): The series has had its ups and downs, just like the administration of President Bartlet (Martin Sheen). And renewal for a seventh season that starts tonight gives the show a chance to extend into a new administration, with candidates Matt Santos (Jimmy Smits) and Leo McGarry (John Spencer) hoping to keep the White House under Democratic control.
"Animal Icons" (8 p.m., Animal Planet): On the channel where animals rule, this new occasional series will look at nonhuman "icons" that have captured the popular imagination, starting tonight with "Hollywood's prehistoric superstars," the dinosaurs. Later episodes will cover Garfield and King Kong -- can we trust they'll get to Snoopy?
"I Heart Huckabees" (8 p.m., Cinemax): A comedic take on the possibility of figuring out the meaning of life, this 2004 movie may be a bit quirky for some tastes, but an interesting cast, including Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin as "psychic detectives," is among the attractions. Jason Schwartzman stars as a rabid but rather confused community activist.
"Martha Behind Bars" (9 p.m., CBS): Close behind the debuts of Martha Stewart's two new series comes this movie about her troubles with the law, from which she seems to have emerged more famous than ever (though perhaps not yet richer). Cybill Shepherd stars as Stewart.
"Extras" (10:30 p.m., HBO): This new six-episode comedy series comes via Britain from the creators of the original BBC version of "The Office." Ricky Gervais stars an aspiring actor who gives up his day job but quickly finds that fame and fortune are not at hand.
