XCANFIELD -- The exchange of nuptial vows took place at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 in the presence of the Rev. Terry Hazel as Kathleen Amer and Scott Hackwelder, both of Avon Lake, were united in marriage at St. Michael Church.
The daughter of John and Fran Amer, 365 Overbrook Drive, and son of William and Kathleen Hackwelder of Syracuse, N.Y., were honored afterward during a reception held at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex in Girard.
After a wedding trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, the couple live in Avon Lake.
Crystalsenhanced the V-cut bands at the basque waist of the bride's strapless satin gown.
Peridot-colored gowns were worn by Kathleen Kuka, the honor attendant, and the bridesmaids, Aimee Amer, the bride's sister-in-law; Angela Elser; Stacey Fraser, the groom's sister; Melinda Ross; and Stephanie Sinnott.
William Hackwelder was best man for his son, and groomsmen were Michael Amer and Stephen Amer, the bride's brothers; Kent Kiffner; Joseph Lingle; and Eric Smith. The bride's nephew, Ryan Amer, was ring bearer.
The newlyweds are attorneys with Jones Day in Cleveland,
The bride graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in accounting and earned her juris doctorate at the university's law school.
The groom received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Duke University, Durham, N.C., and a master's in engineering from Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pa. He received his juris doctorate from Syracuse University.
