XGIRARD -- Nuptial vows were exchanged by Jennifer Szallai, 510 E. Broadway, and Michael Beck, 2085 Chaney Circle, Youngstown, as they were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 by the Rev. Peter Haladej at St. Rose Church.
A reception was held at the Maronite Center, Youngstown, for the daughter of Gene and Patricia Szallai, of 510 E. Broadway, and the son of James and Elaine Beck, 1708 Laurie Drive, Austintown.
The couple have postponed their wedding trip to Las Vegas and live at the groom's address.
The bride's strapless ballgown featured a tulle overlay enhanced with lace, pearls and crystals.
Kelly Rader, the honor attendant, wore an apple colored gown, as did the bridesmaids, Christina Pekalla, the groom's sister; Nicole DeGeorge; Stacey Demeretz and Lisa Carr. Flower girl was the bride's cousin, Alyssa Kidd.
The duties of best man were performed by Vince Taddei, and groomsmen were David Szallai and Jonathan Szallai, the bride's brothers; Jasen Pekalla, the groom's brother-in-law; and Rocco Ferreri, his cousin. Ring bearer was the groom's cousin, Tyler Beck.
The bride, a sixth-grade teacher at Eagle Heights Academy in Youngstown, graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University where she is pursuing a master's in English.
The groom earned a degree in computer aided drafting from ITT Technical Institute in Youngstown and is a distribution specialist with First Energy, also in Youngstown.
