Workshop for clergy
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Domestic Violence Task Force is hosting a workshop, "Domestic Violence and its Impact on the Religious Community," for clergy of all denominations. The Oct. 26 event will start with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will be from 9 to 3:15 p.m. Featured speaker will be Julie Owens of the Faith Trust Institute, Seattle, a survivor of domestic violence and co-writer of "Domestic Violence: What Every Pastor Needs to Know." Sponsors are Someplace Safe Inc., Raymond John Wean Foundation, Trumbull County Ohio Safe Havens: Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Grant Project, Trumbull County Children's Services Board and the domestic violence task force. Youth Club to begin
GIRARD -- Youth Club, a free program for community children, is planned from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Sept. 28 at Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Bishop Hopkins to visit
BOARDMAN -- Bishop John L. Hopkins of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church will deliver sermons at the 9 and 11 a.m. services Sunday at Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St. Between services, Boardman United Methodist Women will host a reception for the bishop and his wife, Elaine. Bishop Hopkins began his assignment in the East Ohio area Sept. 1, 2004, and is the spiritual leader for more than 800 churches in 10 districts. He has been a bishop for nine years.
New Freedom anniversary
WARREN -- New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Ave. S.W., will mark its 25th anniversary during a three-day celebration. A dinner is planned at 6 p.m. Friday at Diveste's with the Rev. Program at Higher Praise
WARREN -- Higher Praise Covenant Church, 857 N. Park Ave., will host "Present Day Revelation" with Dr. Renny McLean at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5. Mr. McLean, who has been in ministry for more than 27 years, is the founder of Global Glory and Cutting Edge Ministry, formerly known as Word of Faith Ministries, London, England. Youth conference on tap
YOUNGSTOWN -- The youth ministry of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington St., will hold a youth conference on "Survival in the Presence of the Lord" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 1. Children's prayer safari
BOARDMAN -- Westminister Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, will sponsor "Kingdom of the Son" prayer safari from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 5-Nov. 16. The sessions, designed for children from 3 years old through fifth grade, will include a light supper at a cost of $5 a child, and games, music, crafts, Bible activities and mission projects. Rosary cenacle planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and the Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group will hold a rosary cenacle at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Refreshments will follow in the social hall.
Gospel duet at church
HUBBARD -- Chestnut Ridge Church of God, 7215 Chestnut Ridge Road S.E., will present the gospel duet of Jeff and Sheri Easter at 6 p.m. Oct. 30. They have won two Dove Awards for country album of the year in 1988 for "A Work in Progress" and for country-recorded song of the year, "Goin' Away Party" in 2002. Men's, women's banquet

AUSTINTOWN -- A deacon ordination service for G.L. Mears is planned for 2 p.m. Oct. 2 by Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road. The Rev. Barry Knaub of Central Niles Baptist Church will deliver the ordination message and the Rev. Gary Summerland, Austin Village Baptist Church, will bring the charge to the church.
Speaker, music planned
CANFIELD -- The Rev. Jim Leone will speak on "Shaking the Past" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Christian Life Center, 6101 S. Raccoon Road. His wife, Georgia Leone, will provide music. A second part of the program will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 30 at the center.
Disciple series offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., is offering an eight-week disciple course, "Invitation to the Old Testament," at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 4, that will include video presentations. The first session will be "Making of the Hebrew Bible." Lunch will be offered at the first session.
