The Cowboys scored all 22 points in the first half and held on for a 22-6 win.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Chaney High evened its record at 2-2 Saturday with a 22-6 victory over East Cleveland Shaw at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Cowboys scored all 22 points in the first half before Shaw's (1-4) defense played much better in the second half. The Cardinals scored their only points in the third quarter.
Chaney used a dominating 15-play, 78-yard march in the first quarter that consumed 9 minutes, 12 seconds, with junior Terrell Tomlin scoring on an 11-yard run and adding a two-point conversion to put the Cowboys ahead 8-0 with 2:36 remaining. Robert McElroy had four carries for 33 yards on the drive.
Three plays after the ensuing kickoff, Shaw's Lavaunt Griff fumbled and Chaney's Bill Johnson recovered at Cardinals' 35-yard line.
Chaney leads, 15-0
A 9-yard pass from Antwan Rice to Kory Jackson with a defensive penalty added on gave the Cowboys a first and goal at the Shaw 10, and one play later Robert McElroy went for a touchdown. Eric Sheffield's kick gave the Cowboys a 15-0 lead late in the first quarter.
The final Chaney touchdown came with 5:17 remaining in the first half on Rice's 1-yard run and Sheffield's kick. It ended a 10-play, 49-yard drive dominated by Terrell Tomlin's 36 yards on six carries and a 13-yard pass from Rice to tight end Anthony Kibble.
In the second half the Cowboys were held scoreless, although Chaney had a 14-play, six-minute drive that stalled on downs.
The Cardinals' only score came following a fumble recover at their 41. Three plays later tailback Norman Rox scampered 55 yards for the touchdown. Shaw threatened again in the final period with a first and goal at the Chaney 10, but a sack by McElroy ended that threat.
Strong start
"Our first possession drive was what we wanted as we established the line of scrimmage," said Chaney coach Ron Berdis. "We needed this game to even our record, but we didn't play well in the second half and we haven't put together four quarters since the Boardman game.
Chaney had 19 first downs to six for Shaw as the Cowboys rushed for 166 yards on 48 carries. McElroy gained 63 yards and Tomlin added 54. Rice was 8-of-11 for 99 yards with Kory Jackson grabbing six passes for 63 yards.
Shaw was held to 45 yards rushing. Rox and Lamar Tucker combined for 106 yards rushing, but three Chaney sacks resulted in huge losses for the Cardinals. Shaw also committed three turnovers.
"We played good football in the second half, but you have to play four quarters of football and we didn't do that," said Shaw coach Bruce Coffey.
