Redmen record second victory of last 2 years



Rayen defeated Lima Senior, 27-7.
CAMPBELL -- The Wilson High football team took advantage of four Campbell miscues Friday to record only its second victory in the last two years with a 20-16 triumph over the Red Devils.
Campbell lost three fumbles and had one pass interception, and the Redmen (1-4) turned two of those into touchdowns.
Lamar McQueen scored twice for the Redmen on runs of 12 and 3 yards, while Gary Scott returned a third-quarter kickoff 75 yards for the other score.
Campbell (1-4), which outgained the Redmen 308 to 125 in total yards, had scores from Tee Hymes (4-yards) and Dominic Luckey (12-yards). Luckey also had 98 yards on 17 carries for the Red Devils.
Rayen 27, Lima Senior 7
LIMA -- The Rayen School (3-2) showed a balanced scoring attack as it tallied two touchdowns rushing and two passing.
Gary Thornton put the Tigers ahead as he scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter.
Ali Allen returned a Rayen fumble 45 yards moments later to tie the score at 7-7.
Quarterback Sal Battles put the Tigers ahead for keeps in the second quarter when he plunged a yard for a TD.
Battles then connected with Troy Rice for a 64-yard TD in the third quarter and then with Jerome Carter on a 5-yard TD strike in the fourth period.
Rayen's Dwayne Smith carried 14 times for 102 yards.
Battles gained 61 on 15 attempts, and he completed 3-of-8 passes for 73. Thornton finished with 40 yards on 11 tries.
Lima Senior (1-4) was limited to 59 rushing and 41 passing yards.
Youngstown Christian 37,Ash. Sts. John & amp; Paul 22
MINERAL RIDGE -- Aaron Agresta completed 15-of-25 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for the Eagles (3-2).
Eddie Gonda caught five passes from Agresta for 112 yards and touchdowns of 25, 27 and 40 yards.
Aaron Tate rushed eight times for 93 yards including a 96-yard touchdown that gave the Eagles an early 7-0 lead.
Tate also had four catches for 42 yards.
Van Robison scored on runs of 1, 25 and 65 yards for Ashtabula SJP (0-5).
Kirtland 27, Grand Valley 20
ORWELL -- Kirtland (2-3, 2-0), trailing 20-14, rallied for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to prevail in the Chagrin Valley Conference game.
Gary Steigerwald scored on runs of 5 and 4 yards to give Kirtland the victory.
Danny Ezzo caught TD passes of 25 and 30 from Eric Ziegler for the winners.
Nick Henderlight rushed 32 times for 243, which included TD runs of 2, 4 and 1 yards to spark the Mustangs (2-3, 0-3).
Grand Valley finished with 267 yards on 50 attempts, and it connected on 4-of-16 passes for 46.
