PROGRAM Honoring a trailblazer

Who: The Rev. Lonnie K.A. Simon, pastor emeritus of New Bethel Baptist Church.
What: Humanitarian Recognition Program honoring the Rev. Mr. Simon for his pioneering work for Baptist women in the ministry.
When: 6 p.m. Oct. 9.
Where: New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown, where the honoree's son, the Rev. K.L. Simon, now is pastor.
Program: Scripture readings, music and tributes are planned. Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Sponsors: Interdenominational Clergywomen's Alliance and Mr. Simon's 12 spiritual daughters.
