MILITARY Strickland accepts academy applications



The deadline for returning applications is Nov. 1. LISBON -- U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland of Lisbon, D-6th, is accepting applications from people who wish to be nominated by him to a military academy. To be considered for an appointment to a military academy, an applicant must be nominated by his representative, senator, the president or vice president, or one of the secretaries of the respective service branches. How to apply To apply, an applicant must be at least 17, but not have passed his 23rd birthday; be a citizen of the United States and a legal resident of Ohio's Sixth Congressional District; be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents. Interested students should contact Clare Rubadue, Strickland's academy coordinator, by the second semester of their junior year in high school to request an academy nomination package.
