MAC Salem, Niles easily crush competition



STRUTHERS -- J.J. Johnson rushed for 206 yards and scored three touchdowns Friday as the Salem High football team rolled to its fourth win of the season, beating Struthers 34-6 in Metro Athletic Conference action.
Johnson had touchdown runs of 89 and 40 yards along with a 1-yard jaunt. He finished with 206 yards rushing.
Jarin Heath returned a punt 91 yards for another Quakers score while place-kicker Bryan Wright booted field goals of 34 and 29 yards and four extra points.
Struthers (1-4) had 223 yards rushing while Justin Penson scored the Wildcats' touchdown on a 1-yard run. Penson finished with 107 yards on 19 carries.
Salem quarterback Tom Jesko completed 8 of 13 passes for 117 yards as the Quakers finished with 322 total yards.
Niles 41, East Liverpool 3
NILES -- Niles returned two interceptions for touchdowns, and Tyler Taylor rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown as the Red Dragons rolled past East Liverpool.
James Cline opened the scoring for the Dragons (3-2) with a 54 yard pass interceptions, while Vince Hites also returned one 17 yards for a score.
Taylor, who had most of Niles' 224 rushing yards, scored on a 6-yard run, while Brian Butto, Nate Ganyard and Richard Beltran scored on short runs for the Dragons.
East Liverpool (1-4) which had only 133 total yards, scored on a 20-yard field goal by Jim Woods.
